Build Your Own
Public Art Project

Before I Die

In 2010, artist Candy Chang took a ramshackle house in New Orleans and transformed it into a public art project where people can share their hopes and dreams. The result was Before I Die: a global art project that invites people to contemplate mortality and share their personal aspirations in public. The project features chalkboard walls upon which anyone can complete the statement, "Before I die I want to..."

Before I Die has since taken on a life of its own with hundreds of walls being constructed in cities and communities across the world. Oliver created a series of fun and functional illustrations for the official Before I Die Toolkit, designed and coded the original Before I Die website, and contributed to layout concepts for the Before I Die book.
